I think that poverty should be handled on both a national and community level because it involves everyone especially in this troubled time. It’s the responsibility of the national government to help out in a larger scale of things by building more homeless shelters many people will actually have a roof over there head and a warm meal and they could also start by taking some of the money they use on the foreign wars and they might be able to afford to put some money back into the healthcare system for our under privileged. The community should be involved in the more personal approach, the community should take the steps needed to clothe and feed our poor, they should take the proper precautions to make sure that no child will go cold in the winter and to insure proper nutrition for all.

I believe that poverty is an issue that should be addressed both nationally as well as the Community. We all know people who are struggling & health care is something that personally I feel a national effort would truly be necessary. Whereas community food banks & shelters can be something local people should really put forth the effort to help out there neighbors. I think this is a problem that needs so much attention neither one nor the other could carry the full load. This seems to be such an issue currently it will be a long time before we get where we need to be.

Leona(SWGATC)Today the economy gets worse as the poverty level has increased. Poverty is really a personal responsibility. It all depends on what you want out of life. Are you an enterprising person, are you willing to do what it takes to make it in life. People have to want to formulate things right to get through. Is rural poverty a national and community responsibility? Well at least I do not think so. It is great that local communities want to get involved to help the poor, because that is what God has in his plan help where help is in need. The groups of people that get together are great. That gets people headed in the right direction towards being successful at anything they want to do.

I personally think that poverty should be addressed as a national and a community responsibility because more people would see the reflection that comes from them both. With both of them working together it would make a huge difference on the world because everybody at some point and time in there life need the extra help to move on and when you see everybody trying to help and rely on each other it will help build the community to a higher platform. It would have a big outcome out of it when all the people choose to focus and help each other out to have a positive family relationship.

There is only so much a national government can do for a small region that is suffering from poverty. The government would more likely try to pass a few bills or setup a few relief agencies to handle the “general” problem of poverty nationwide instead of localizing a few areas at a time. Therefore, local involvement would more than likely influence more progressive change to a community problem like poverty. Basically poverty is a problem that requires help from government resources (such as congressional bills that lend aid) and help from local supporters (such as volunteers) in order to be fixed.

Ronald(SWGATC) I think that poverty should be addressed both nationally and in the community. Poverty affects both large cities as well as the small towns like the one we live in. The government is always trying to reduce the poverty but there is only so much it can do alone. You also have organizations in each community that does fundraisers to help out the needy in their area. I think it is up to everyone to lend a hand to help the ones that need help the most. Almost anyone can do something to help because any little bit helps like donating your used items or can goods to food banks or if you can spare a dollar. So remember the ones that is less fortunate and give for a good cause.

I really believe that poverty is the responsibility of everyone. I think you should help people in need if there is any way you can. We have a lot of homeless people and poverty stricken people in the United States. A lot of children are on the streets. I see all these organizations that want you to give to the poor in other countries. I don’t believe in that. I was always taught to clean up around your own doorstep before going to someone else’s house. I feel for everyone in other countries but I feel that the United States has problems that should be fixed before going to other countries. I think that a lot of national funds are wasted that could be used to help people get back on their feet
